Tori Praver and Poko Pano put on stellar shows at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. Saturday, which was probably one of the busier days at the Tents was filled with shows. Two of the highlight shows from that day are Tori Praver and Poko Pano. The Tori Praver show was a relaxed, and chilled setting in the Penthouse of the Raleigh. Models strolled out, posed and walked around. Every one was laid back, enjoying cocktails and the view. Tori Praver was definitely one of my favorite shows of the week, plus she gave a great gift bag.

Poko Pano on the other hand was different, but just as good. Poko Pano has always been one of my favorite collections and this year, that was only more reinforced. The clothing was sheik and stylish, which is typical for Poko Pano. The swimwear stood out over the other designs presented at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.

Being a fan of the clothing line, being backstage at True Religion was amazing. The environment was a rocker/hippie/street fusion which might sound strange, but trust me it worked very well. Similar to Ed Hardy, but more retro rocker, True Religion was more of an innovative reflection of the late 1960’s, early 1970’s. While roaming around backstage, I had the opportunity to talk with True Religion designer, Jeff Lubell. He told me that his clothing line, and ideas comes from his soul. He had this idea of having a bohemian/hippie/rocker clothing line from like the 1960’s and 70’s. This was only backed up during the show itself with the atmosphere; the lights went up and the models marched out with attitude to the music of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Lynard Skynard, Pink Floyd, and other artists of the time. Lee Dalberg also provided his signature rock bands which made the show even more special. So far, the True Religion show is my favorite show of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, but we have to wait until Sunday for my final pick!

A little different than the others, Crystal Jin’s Penthouse show at The Raleigh, proved to be a great show at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. The smaller-than-the-rest event had a great collection of swim wear which really showed off and highlighted the sexy and sleek curves in a woman’s body, while at the same time remaining elegant. I had the pleasure of interviewing the designer of Crystal Jin, Crystal, who told me that when she started planning this collection she had in mind making swimwear that women every where could feel confident and sexy in. She said that she wants people to know that she designs her collections with the desire of having women feel good about themselves and comfortable in what they wear. With what Crystal Jin offered, I feel a lot of women will feel very good in swimwear.
