New York may be a buzz with fashion week highlights come fall, but the spotlight turned to Miami this past week when the runways sizzled with the latest styles in swimwear.   Miami’s elite, VIPs and international jet-setters fashionably assembled at the recently unveiled W South Beach for the very much anticipated inca 2010 cruise collection debut featuring Wilhelmina’s Cindy Taylor on Thursday, July 16, 2009.

From the Greek Islands to Mexico, the 2010 cruise collection was inspired by head designer Stacy Josloff’s travels around the world and was a mix of cut-out one-pieces, sexy solids and prints that were understated yet chic.   Josloff, who recently relocated from NY to Miami, put together a plethora of looks for her clientele including a black leather bikini with fringe,  a cream beach wrap trimmed in feathers and intricately crafted crochet bikinis and dresses that offered plenty of sex appeal.

inca stands apart from just your traditional swimwear company offering everything you need for the jet-set life including women’s and children’s resort wear, as well as beach and home accessories.   The brand is the ultimate destination for the bohemian lux resort lifestyle and appeals to jet-setters and VIP’s alike.  Celebrity fans include Brooke Shields, Kate Hudson, Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Naomi Watts, Marissa Miller and Salma Hayak.

One of the last shows of the night turned out to be one of the most interesting, Inca. By the end of the night of the first day of shows at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, I was tired, sore, hungry, and wanting to return to my room, but, there was one more show on the agenda before I could find my peace. I went to the W Hotel for the Inca show, where I found an interesting and enchanting setting. I got my spot and waited until 11 for the show to start, and once it did, it had my attention from start til finish. The swimwear was sleek and slim, with a lot of sex appeal. The outfits were well put together and well planned out. Inca was a great show and I look forward to what else they will offer us in the future!

Clearly fueled by extensive travel, the INCA Swimwear Collection combined “every exotic element from the desert, rain forest and seaside” to create a jaw-dropping collection of African and Mediterranean inspired swim suits and cover-ups. No skimping on embellishments here – everything from tops to sashes to sarongs oozed decorative stitching and other organic adornments.(story continues below photo)

The crowd had a tough time keeping their fashion game-face on and cheered wildly for the heavily embellished crimson, neutral and chocolate cover-ups. These tops were daringly paired with bottoms only – equally beautiful, beaded and belted to perfection. Teal and Aquamarine were the among the boldest and brightest hues on the runway with sultry breaks of creme, champagne, rose and demure animal prints electrified with tasteful tassels and intricate, wide bronze and gold trim. The favorites hands-down: the hot pink and chocolate leopard print bikini and the sheer ? python cover-up. INCA’s Stephanie Hirsch and Stacey Deutsch stole the show with their “more is more” take on beading and unique embellishments.
