Show your commitment to breast cancer awareness this October by supporting the cause at Custo Barcelona locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The European brand announces the launch of a month-long initiative to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer through sales of a collectable T-Shirt from October 1st to October 31st, or while supplies last.

“We think it’s important for people to support cancer research the best way they can,” states Custo Dalmau, “and for us it’s through what we know best, designing a limited edition item and donating the proceeds to charity.”

Due to Custo Barcelona’s global fan base, the Limited Edition T-Shirt will become an instant collector’s item. Model/actress Cindy Taylor generously donated her time to support the cause, and is featured in the promotional campaign photo wearing the T-shirt. Quantities are limited-only 1,000 T-Shirts will be produced. The retail cost of the T-Shirt is $65.00.

Beginning October 1, 2008 the Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirt will be sold exclusively at the following Custo Barcelona stores: New York, Chicago, Bal Harbour, Boca Raton, Sunrise, Tampa, Dallas, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Glendale, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This Limited-Edition T-Shirt supporting breast cancer research features a custom graphic design in keeping with the company’s signature DNA. Known for their bold graphic designs, the Limited Edition T-Shirt showcases a large pink ribbon, the symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness, in a powerful message across the front. 100% of proceeds from the sales of the 2008 Limited Edition T-Shirt will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Custo Barcelona brand was created over 27 years ago in Europe by the Dalmau brothers, Custo and David, as a graphic tee shirt collection. Today the brand consists of a complete ready to wear collection for both men and women including handbags and accessories, footwear, sunglasses, swimwear and a fragrance. Custo Barcelona is sold at 40+ namesake stores worldwide and over 3,000 point-of-sale locations including specialty boutiques and department stores globally. In addition to the RTW collections, Custo Barcelona is the head design company for a luxury resort in Playa de Mujeres, Mexico, called Capricho by Custo scheduled to open in 2009. Due to the brands iconic style, the company has been commissioned to design projects for such reputable brands as Perrier, Hummer, Motorola, Busnelli, Seat Ibiza and Estrella Damm.

Custo Barcelona has really shown American designers that they have to step there game up. Custo Barcelona’s designs and styles from the Latin American Country of Brazil were a very nice refreshment to the sometimes monotonous similarity of the American Swim wear designers. The collections presented were very chic and stylish sure to be a big hit in the USA. They were sometimes a complicated pattern but yet at the same time very simplistic and refined. Not only that but the swim wear was very colorful and bright. Not like sickening neon colors, but a beautiful showcase of soothing color. The show seemed to be thoroughly enjoyed by all which is no surprise seeing how Custo brought some of the best and brightest cutting edge designs of the swim wear world to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.

Custo Barcelona is proud to present the first complete swimwear collection

At last, Custo Barcelona bikinis are gaining their independence: initially created to complement the RTW collection, come summer 2009 Custo Barcelona Swim will be a new, independent line. Bikinis, swimsuits, beachwear and accessories will all be available in Custo Barcelona shops, department stores and specialist swimwear boutiques throughout the world.

Metallic sheens that sparkle in the sunlight, sequins that float over the waves, velvet flowers that grow in the sand, kilim prints that merge into the towels. This is the Custo Barcelona swimwear collection, ethnic, romantic, hippy… the purest of Custo styles, lit up by the sun’s rays and dancing in the sea breeze.

With renewed enthusiasm, Custo Barcelona has designed a swimwear line that features selected swimsuits but in which bikinis top the league. Forms are simple, tops go for the triangular and halter styles, bandeaux are finished with neck straps while the retro-look offers more support and is gathered around the chest. Bottom halves feature triangular pants with cut-away sides, culottes and minis. One-pieces play with sinuous body shapes and reveal vertiginously plunging necklines with backs as bare as when wearing a bikini.

With this collection, Custo Barcelona’s flare for playing with fabric and print combinations faces a new challenge: the scant nature of the clothes. Miniscule curtain tops mix trimming, beadwork and a range of textiles, as do the bottoms. The fabrics play with a mix of matt and gloss, with finishing aged by using lamé or sequins. Key elements are blond and lace, jacquards, printed lycra, devoré velvet, metallic fabrics and lamé.

Prints are inspired by ethnic references from Turkish kilims, romantic exotic flowers, stripes, graphic and ethnic motifs, oriental mosaics or figurative drawings like chains stolen from silk scarves. Each item is a riot of imagination on a miniscule scale where some fabrics are trimmed with pieces of different prints and share the small area of a bra cup or the front panel of a pair of pants. Finishes are aged and unwashed in tie-dye style.

Despite their scantiness, these items are full of detail: wooden, ceramic or plastic beads hang from the ties that attach them to the body; little metal buckles adorn the side of a culotte; ethnic pompoms and fringing decorate hips and beach wear.

The cover-up collection shares the same inspiration. Clothes which accompany the more ethnic range of the collection include kaftans, blouses, kimonos and sarongs all adorned with tassels and fringes. Baby doll dresses, sarong skirts and halterneck dresses in lace and aged velvets complement the most romantic bathing. For the more hippy bikinis, Custo Barcelona has designed looser clothing such as tunics and long dresses in patchwork. Co-ordinating beach bags and matching sarongs are available for all our designs.

The colour scheme is vibrant, fruity, happy using a palette of strong colours like fuchsia, orange or turquoise with a touch of light in almost every item from the metallic finish on selected fabrics.

The free spirit of Custo Barcelona is perfect for bathing on beaches throughout the world.
