NYCKED Swimwear invaded Miami with a sexy swim event at the W Hotel in South Beach Saturday, July 16th. Lorenzo Martone and Jules Kim presented their sophomore collection of bat-winged, New York City inspired suits with a bang for 150 guests at the Grove.
Attendants included Kimberly Bacardi, celebrity chef Travis London and artist Aaron Young who enjoyed the event, which reflected the designers’ attention to style and urban influence. The show, powered by Xtra Life Lycra, began with two Joy Entertainment cirque du soleil-esq performers cocooned in hammocks and then transitioned into white swim capped models sporting slicked hair by Cutler Salon and bold makeup by NARS. The night finished with passed h’ors d’oeuvres, specialty Mandarine Napoleon cocktails and Fenom Modern Absinthe spirits.
Each NYCKED model wore Vans collabo gladiators, which represented the ability of fashion and swim to stream into multiple product offerings.
Martone says his inspiration for the line and event came from “the idea of taking something retro and classic, and turning it into something quite modern and different.” Categorized into four collection groupings of Social Wear, Disco, Studio and Design, the designers created a lifestyle brand that could be worn anywhere from beaches to discotheques around the world.
